Dawn Dalto is our Featured Artist this week!

Dawn Dalto recently opened her new studio at Studio 375 on Depot Street.

"In January I left my full time day job to pursue my artistic endeavors full time. I am still in the process of organizing and re-organizing my studio.  As a new "full time" ceramic artist I am still in need of a few pieces of equipment and to obtain those I am working with Kickstarter.com to obtain funding. Kickstarter is a new form of commerce and patronage, not a place for investment or lending. Project creators inspire people to open their wallets by offering products, benefits and fun experiences. You can take a look at the video about my project.  The project is called "Air & Rollers:  Equipping a Pottery Studio" I am trying to raise funds for a slab roller and a kiln vent.  Kickstarter funding is "all or nothing".  If the project doesn't raise the amount set within the time limit then no money changes hands. I am trying to raise $1800 in 60 days. My deadline is June 15."

Wendy Whitson

Wendy Whitson (Warehouse Studios) is our featured artist this week!

Earth to Sky (detail)
acrylic on canvas

My paintings are continually evolving. Sometimes it's big changes, often it's small, subtle nuances. Currently, I'm part of a group show in Charleston, SC at the Wells Gallery, with a focus on lowcountry birds. It was a challenge to stay true to my vision of painting, and create work which fit into the theme.

I've been working on several commissions, primarily for private residences. However, the latest is a very large-scale piece for the lobby at Four Seasons Resort, in Jackson Hole, WY.

Recently I was approached by Biltmore Estate to provide paintings for The Loft, a private dining room used for special occasions. There will be approximately 25 paintings hanging throughout the series of rooms, connecting hallways and staircases. My work is also at Traditions, a gallery/home accessory shop at Antler Hill Village. The Grand Opening of Antler Hill Village on Biltmore Estate is May 20th.
