As a ceramic sculptor, I have the exquisite pleasure of moving clay around. It’s the ultimate, most plastic of mediums—and then once fired, the clay becomes durable. Mud to magic. What could be better? My subjects explore themes of shared human experience; thus, the human figure—particularly the girl or woman—best expresses my ideas, my own voice. My work invites identification, reflection, questioning and humor. I hope that it encourages my viewers to revisit their own stories, ideas and images.
