Dearing is a ceramic artist as well as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has connections with potters in Costa Rica and Rwanda, and is fascinated by the use of clay vessels in different cultures.
“The history and universality of ceramics are evident in each new place I visit. They hold function and beauty in our daily lives, connecting us to the past and to the people far away.
Each piece has slight imperfections which highlight the uniqueness and challenge found in process. Process of clay becoming what is was meant to be and our own process of development. It is a pleasure to be able to work with people and with clay in my daily life.”
