Color is my passion. Texture and feel are close seconds. I dye, weave, spin and felt; all as a means to use colors and create fabrics to be worn. I dye deep, rich, vibrant colors to make a bold statement and compliment the wearer. I make wearables because they are tangible art, something to be enjoyed by both the wearer and the observer.

"Exploring infinite ways to create patterned textiles at the loom drives my fascination with weaving. I am drawn to intricate structural interlacements, but am thrilled when simple combinations of structure, color and texture yield beautiful, complex-looking woven designs. I insist my garments and accessories feel as luxurious as they look and am on a continuing quest for fibers and techniques to achieve that result. For me, the learning is as exciting as the creating, and my desire to share that learning by teaching others the craft through instruction and writing will be a primary focus of my continued development as a fiber artist."

I paint with oils using traditional techniques and use only old fashioned bristle brushes to create flowing, ethereal effects. These landscapes ad seascapes are imaginary scenes that I conjure in the studio. My paintings are inspired by my relationships with oceans, forests, grasslands, mountains, deserts, and female form. My strategy is generally to just start painting, invent and explore as I work and see where it takes me.

As an avid flower gardener, I am so intrigued by the tiniest details and love integrating this into sculptural forms.

While contemporary life is full of stress, anxiety and contrasts, in my work I seek harmony. I strive to create beautiful organic adornments exude happiness. My creations exude earth, water, and sky; soul, body, and mind. Floating between my Cherokee and Scottish heritage creates imaginary spaces and symbolism.
It is important not to rush, but rather I try to retain the initial feeling, looking at my scribbled sticky to retain the initial feeling that inspires the birth of a particular design.

I work in several mediums whether it is glass, metals, stones, gems or creating patterns in precious metal clay. Layers of design provide endless opportunities for one of kind large scale and small collectible works of art.

I create stories in my work by combining distinct styles and symbols. I create organic shapes inspired by nature and mix them with simple and graphic lines. I love to mix pearls and soft colors with the roughness of gunmetal and oxidized silver. When these disparate styles come together in my pieces, they tell little stories by drawing connections between seemingly disparate ideas. The most important part of the story comes when my pieces are worn. Each woman adds her own meaning to my jewelry, I love when my pieces are worn because it continues the process of combination, mixing my narratives with those of the wearer.

I am a contemporary mixed heritage Native American artist. My blend of cultures half Choctaw-half Czech creates a unique voice in my work. I honor my Native culture while dipping into my Czech gene pool of performing artists and craftsman for a contemporary theme. Inspirations are many with a nod toward one of a kind design.

Sometimes it feels like my art journey was intentional - it all developed and evolved over time. People always ask for my inspiration and it is difficult to put into words to explain a certain piece of work every time. Each person takes something a little different from their vantage point and I’m happy to just be the conduit.
