Julia Fosson Encaustic Art

Painting lets me communicate through a visual conversation. I am inspired daily, the images you may or may not see in my work are drawn from the crazy world in which we live, good and bad. You may see circles to represent people as no one circle is exactly the same. I use chairs, most with only 3 legs, it is meant to relate to the comfort level you have sitting in these chairs. As well you may see a very simple structure that represents a house, and house or home can mean many things to people, again good or bad. I love to tell a story in a painting and hope that the viewers enjoy listening visually.

As I have always been interested in the creation of small universes, I find myself drawn to mixed media. After receiving a B.F.A. in painting and an M.A. in Art Librarianship, I worked for many years as an Art Conservator in Cincinnati. I recently relocated to Asheville and am enjoying being able to devote myself full time to my own work. I am currently exploring jewelry, which I see as a miniature wearable form of my larger work.
