There are two equally important elements of quality pottery: form and function.

What good is a beautiful mug if it’s not comfortable in your hands? Or a lovely vase that’s top-heavy when you put flowers in it? My goal, and in fact my obsession as a potter, is to make for you that special piece that you gravitate towards every day. The one, like your favorite pair of jeans, that makes you feel good because it is comfortable and it looks great. Every time I try a new form, whether it’s a plate or a pilsner glass, I “test” it in the field. This means taking home prototypes and using them every day. Only then can I make the proper adjustments to assure a quality finished product.

While capable of being there, these pieces were not meant to be displayed on a pedestal or in your kitchen cabinets with the fine china. I hope that you enjoy my work. Take it with you, throw it in the backseat of your car, carry it with you to work, leave it in the sink with the rest of the dirty dishes, wash it only when you have friends over. Use it every day. I would be honored.
