Before moving to North Carolina, Sahar graduated from the Kuwaiti Institute for Computer Studies in Kuwait City. Later her love for art pushed her to take lessons for three years from professional artists and exhibited her work several times in Kuwait. After the Gulf War in 1990, she moved to Asheville with her husband and three daughters, where she took time to raise her family and adjust to the new home.
In Asheville, after attending workshops and life-drawing classes, Sahar followed her ambitions, by going back to school and earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Sahar works with oil paint, mixed media, collage, clay and other materials. Her recent works are inspired by people she encounters on the streets, while traveling or doing their daily chores. Attracted by their body movements and expressions, she creates her own impressions in her compositions. She has had solo shows and participated in juried and group shows in several states. Her work can be seen at the Asheville Gallery of Art, in downtown Asheville, and French Broad Artists Studio in the River Arts District.
