about the artist
For more than ten years, Asheville-based artist Ginger S. Huebner has been using the mediums of collage and chalk pastel to transform life moments into works of fine art. Huebner’s work is determined by individual clients, their life journeys, and what defines them. For Huebner, life is full of stories and each event, project, business proposal, defining moment, and fragment of life is an opportunity to capture, artistically, what often transcends expression in mere words. Her work embodies people’s hearts, their dreams, their passions in life, and the moments and individuals that define and refine them.
It was as an architecture student at Virginia Tech that Huebner was first drawn to translate emotions and events into visual artwork. A successful student, she was frustrated by the confines of her architecture studies and found that she could not be satisfied with merely executing successful architecture drawings. For Huebner, each project was more than a physical building or design; it was full of emotion, of purpose, of meaning which far exceeded the requirements and parameters of a typical architecture assignment. Unwilling to suppress her creative voice, Huebner began to look for ways to express herself through art and to capture the defining moments of our lives and work. She sought and found a way to give these moments and stories expression. Unknowingly, what was begun as a means of artistic expression and creative survival would transform into her life’s passion and work; that she would be given the opportunity to use her talents and skills to translate other people’s ideas, memories, and stories into beautiful and soulful art.
A highly-sought after artist, Huebner’s commissions have traversed both personal and corporate domains, from gallery to home, with subjects ranging from capturing a business’ mission and image, to the uniting of two lives in marriage, to a commissioned piece conveying the spirit and goals of a scholarship granted to a promising art student. Through her work, Huebner artistically renders moments that include everything from occasions and events, to personal achievements and individuals who inspire, to corporate visions and missions. Clients have incorporated her artwork for invitations, announcements and cards, for display in homes, businesses, and galleries, and for corporate gifts. Huebner’s versatility is a reflection of her clients. She claims to merely be the translator and that it is the clients’ vision, stories, and experiences that are the true artwork. She states that, “her job is merely to listen and give expression to the art that is life” and she quotes Jean Pierre de Caussade as inspiration, “the present moment is always overflowing with immeasurable riches, far more than we are able to hold.”

commissioned work: my vision for working together
What is unique about my work is that it’s not about me. It all begins with you. There is a story: an event, a project, a new home, a business proposal, a defining moment, a fragment of life. You want to capture it somehow but, beyond just words. Is it possible to translate into another form? Can this story be visual?
I have worked collaboratively with individuals, agencies, and companies to provide unique one-of-a kind works of art. My work is used for a wide variety of functions, and always as original artwork ready to install and enjoy permanently in the residence, office or corporate headquarters. Each piece combines colors, words, textures and images specifically chosen to express an emotion, the depth of meaning, and the value of my client’s story.
And my clients find the process both easy and invigorating. The initial ideas come from them: an inspiring piece of text, an image, a color, a personal reflection. We talk about what they would like to communicate or feel, and what the message sparks in their mind. Then I take their thoughts and desires, and transform them into a singular work of art. The work stretches beyond a commissioned work of art to reveal people’s hopes, dreams, and passions in and for life.
