Laurie McCarriar

Laurie-mccarriar-studio
Laurie McCarriar moved to Asheville in March 2006 escaping a 30 year career in the arts in Northern Virginia: museum research, exhibit production & design, digital photo restoration, and fine art printing. Never one to sit idle, she opened her studio in the River Arts District shortly thereafter, and in her spare time runs the website and blog for the River District Artists.

"I usually go out with my camera to a favorite spot and take a lot of random images without really thinking a lot about it. Just phrases ...detail and color and texture. These four prints are just about exactly as I saw them through the lens...

"I print all of my photographic art on canvas using a giant Epson Pro
Graphics printer. Prints in 9x9 and 24x24 are available on my website.
I also love to create custom sizes and different cropping based on a
photo shoot. Here are a couple examples of panoramic images...panoramas on a much more intimate scale than the usual.

What's in store for 2009?
Maybe some more circular art. I find those fun to construct and very meditative. A new collaborative fundraiser project called Dogs on the Beach! ...and a trip to Ireland in September! Check lauriemcarriar.com for the latest info...
