I have always had a strong fascination with anthropology and art. My greatest influences have been the primal forms and stories of traditional cultures from around the world. I am not alone. "Primal" art forms have influenced the imaginations and works of artists throughout the centuries. Each form, whether a totem, mask, shield, body art or figurine was a means of connecting... man to man, man to animal, man to spirit, spirit to spirit. They became a bridge creating a sacred communion or dialogue between the physical and spiritual worlds.

Nature is deeply intertwined with our life force, inspiring hope of endurance and offering its healing powers. A plant's ability to burst forth from a slab of concrete, continually changing to adapt and survive the harsh atmosphere of the earth, illustrates the organic resilience of all living things. I am grateful for nature, the strength of the human spirit…and clay.
