Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Wait! It's also National Quilt Day, a day when quiltmakers and quilt enthusiasts across the country celebrate the ingenuity, individuality and beauty of quilts.

Sponsored by the Southern Highland Craft Guild, Pattiy Torno, of Curve Studios, will be demonstrating the art of machine piecing and hand quilting today and tomorrow at the Folk Art Center and Allanstand Craft Shop on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I wonder if the quilts will be green?

Make it New

The Asheville Museum of Art opens a new exhibit tonight: "Make It New: Western North Carolina Artists Exhibition 2007."

Representing the River Arts District are Sean Pace & Kyoko Masutani (Phil Mechanic Building), Jason Witherspoon (the Wedge) as well as RAD Alumni, Betty Clark (Warehouse Studios) & Kevin Hogan (Chesterfield Mill before it burned down). Heinz Koessler (the Wedge) and his band will be lending their musical talent during the opening from 5-8 PM.
