American Craft Council

Sheryl Baker, of Curve Studios in the River Arts District, has a new clay sculptural piece in the Spotlight 2007 exhibition in the Sandra Blain Gallery at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN. Spotlight 2007 is a juried exhibition of the American Craft Council Southeast in conjunction with its annual crafts conference to be held at Arrowmont, September 6-8, 2007.

The exhibition runs from August 17 - September 22 and features the work of 64 artists.

Phil Mechanic Studios in September

2 new exhibitions are opening in the Phil Mechanic Building on September 1.

In the Flood Gallery, a group show called Utility Trances presenting the work of five artists: Alicia Henry, Ben Roosevelt, Lain York, Rob Smith and Greg Pond, working in a variety of media from sound to installation to drawing.
Exhibition dates: September 1 – 29, 2007
Reception: Saturday, September 1st 7-10pm

The Fine Arts League is coming to Depot Street

The Fine Arts League is opening soon on Depot Street! Last Sunday, the old warehouse was sandblasted and now glows in the afternoon sun. Renovations continue inside. Stay tuned!

New Studios in Riverview Station

New RDA members Peter Peterson and Troy Winterrowd opened their new studios in Riverview Station recently. They held an open house last Sunday afternoon showing their paintings and photographs as well as showing off the newly renovated wing of Riverview Station, complete with air conditioning!
