Jonas Gerard on ABC’s 20/20

Jonas Gerard, internationally collected River District Artist, was interviewed in his Asheville studio and in New York City as part of his participation in a segment of ABC’s 20/20 January program on Happiness in America. Asheville was also featured as the happiest city in America. See a clip of the program at www.jonasgerard.com.

The River District Artists have started a new artist profile series on their website. Each month a different artist will be featured with photos, resume, and any other information the artist chooses to offer. Our first featured artist is Mary Charles Griffin of Warehouse Studios. Ribbon-cutting in the River Arts District

The Fine Arts League of the Carolinas, an art school, has moved from downtown Asheville to 362 Depot Street in the River Arts District, and will celebrate with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Monday, September 17, the first day of classes in its new session.

The Fine Arts League is opening soon on Depot Street! Last Sunday, the old warehouse was sandblasted and now glows in the afternoon sun. Renovations continue inside. Stay tuned!

Earle Chesterfield Mill Site Design Charrette

Come and meet the design team from Jaime Correa and Associates at the weekly pot luck lunch at the Phil Mechanic Studios, 109 Roberts Street - Thursday, July 12, at noon.

Cleanup on the River

Come out and help clean up the French Broad River! As part of National River Cleanup week, RiverLink is sponsoring a week of River cleanups around Asheville and surrounding counties. They will be right here in the River Arts District at Jean Webb Park on Sunday, June 10 at noon for a community clean-up and pot luck. Seconds Sale!

Image001The Cravens may have left town, but Craven|Hofman is open and is holding their annual seconds sale of hand-built porcelain this Saturday, March 3 from 10AM to 4 PM. You can go to their website for directions, or check out The Wedge Building on the Google Map further down this page.

It looks like the weather is getting pretty nice, so come on down to the River Arts District, have some lunch, and stop in at Craven|Hofman and other open studios on Saturday!
