At this point in time, I cannot imagine my life without oil painting. It has become part of my practice since I can recall picking up a brush. I prefer to work on location and enjoy materials that are sourced from nature: pigments and paint derived from minerals, flax (linseed) oil and linen; marble dust, turpentine, natural brushes The craft of painting, taking advantages of oil paints luminosity and rich color, is a rich heritage with a long lineage. My studio is magically cluttered, a collection of curiosities.

I graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design in 1984, and opened my first studio not long after. We have weekly ongoing painting sessions in my studio, plein-air classes on location around Asheville, demos and workshops. Visit my website to learn more. https:///www.Johnmackah.com
