Folk Art Painting with Acrylics w/ local artist Michelle Hamilton

Whimsical, colorful and full of personality are just a few words to describe Michelle’s style of painting and teaching! Join us for this fun Friday evening of creating with a playful image as your muse, you work with color & playful shapes. Michelle will fist guide you with how to build up a “roughed up background” using layers of paint with a brayer. on which to

Once you’ve got your background you’ll be invited to do a rough sketch or tracing of an image you’d like to start with, and then traNSate that image onto your background. You’’ll be using a using a vibrant palette of acrylic paints and other mixed media tools such Kuretake metalllic pens, Copic pens & acrylic paint pens to add whimsy and detail (the “gingerbread” as Michelle calls it!)

Michelle invites you to bring a visual muse or two (a playful image of a character, animal, structure or shapes) to spark your imagination while you create and play. We will also have plenty of visual muses in the studio to choose from.

Oh and folk art is meant to be imperfect … that is the fun part! Check your perfectionist at the door!
