Getting your Head in the Clouds, Painting techniques with Peter Roux, Sept 2, 7pm EDT, Live on Zoom

Clouds are universal, ethereal, wondrous..! Join me for a workshop designed to take the mystery out of creating convincing painted clouds. Using oils (acrylics can also be used for those following along), I will demonstrate simple and clear techniques to build dynamic and dimensional clouds in paint.

Participants can follow along with their own painting, or just watch and take it all in. We’ll explore how to use basic shapes to build convincing cloud forms, how to bring beautiful soft light into your clouds, why edges are everything, and how to use brushwork to make it all happen. We’ll explore how subtle colors can change the mood of any cloud, and why simple layering can make all the difference! I will develop a 16×20” cloud painting to demonstrate how all these techniques come together.

Participants will have plenty of opportunity to interact with questions and comments, and time will be built-in for feedback on student’s work. This session, while chock full of valuable techniques you can use, is designed to be relaxing and fun for any experience level. Join me and get your head in the clouds!
