A Collection of modern art by local WNC artists
inspired by the Peggy Guggenheim collection!
September 8TH (opening) – SEPTEMBER 29TH
Coming to the Mark Bettis Studio & Gallery in the River Arts District “INSPIRATION”, a curated show based on Peggy Guggenheim’s personal collection of 20th-century masterpieces that range in style from Cubism and Surrealism to Abstract Expressionism. Over fifteen selected Western North Carolina artists will each create an original piece of art inspired by one of the great artists of the modern movement such as Picasso, Twombly, Miro, de Kooning and more!
Opening reception will be held on September 8th from 5:30 – 8 pm at Mark Bettis Studio & Gallery, 123 Roberts Street in the WEDGE Building. “INSPIRATION” will be a ‘Salon’ style show; a flashback in time to the age of glamour. If you wish, add to the creative atmosphere by pulling out your best vintage clothing, dress to the nines in mid-century style while perusing one-of-a-kind modern art by some of our best local artists. Light hors-d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
