Clayspace Kiln Opening!

Join the ceramic artists of Clayspace Co-Op as they display fresh pots from all of their recent firings. Several members will be collaborating on a wood firing, while others will feature new work from their respective kilns.

Ukrainian Pysanky Egg Demonstrations and Fundraiser for Ukraine

Pysanky artist Andrea Kulish will demonstrate the ancient art of Ukrainian pysanky eggs. She will talk about the wax resist, or batik, process as well and the meanings and symbols used. Opening Reception for Jaime Byrd’s Art /AI Exhibition: Big and Colorful! 

Pulling inspiration from her own backyard in the Western NC area, Jaime is expanding her expressionistic landscape paintings to larger canvases up to six feet long. Known for her colorful and highly textured oil paintings on wood panels, Jaime will be the featured artist while exhibiting her larger scale works for the entire months of October and November. 

The exhibition will also feature imaginative multimedia elements that combine Jaime’s paintings with her own film making, animation and elaborate sound designs. Viewers will be amazed as each painting comes to life when its Augmented Reality is viewed using Artvive, a free app for mobile devices. Fiber Art Demonstration by Paige Houghton

Paige will be sewing on pieces crafted from wool, mohair and other natural fibers.  Yes, sewing – with a sewing machine – demonstrating how she combines fibers with layers of epoxy and metallic paint to create unique, stained glass-like pieces.  

Imagine: loose fiber that looks like stained glass! Says Paige, “It’s an important opportunity to let people know that there are actually hands crafting items of incredible beauty.”
