Turning Fire Green: A Sustainable Fuel Alternative for Glass Artists

Organic Combustion Systems has designed a burner specifically to meet the needs of glass artists, using only waste vegetable oil (used fryer oil) as fuel. Vegetable oil is a completely sustainable and renewable fuel, with significantly more energy gallon-per-gallon than propane. It’s non-toxic, non-explosive, and very simple to filter and utilize. It also cleans up easily with a little dishwashing soap.

Our featured artist Cole Johnson will be creating a bent solid glass piece using the veggie burner. He will first create a colored stuff cup and fill it with solid glass. He will then manipulate the shape and finish it in the cold shop. To learn more about the OCS veggie burner and see it in action, join us on Nov 20 at 6pm.
