“I am awed by the intricacy of life on the mountainside, how the bloodroot takes in the light, or the feel of rock that is three hundred million years old.” Often intricately detailed, William’s new paintings invite us into the fresh air, the dawn chorus of birds and the dark richness where seeds germinate. Large ink drawings fill the page with spontaneous growth, and small, intensely-colored panels in acrylic evoke ancient lacquerware.
