SUMMARY:How Long Will It Last? A contemplation on impermanence\, grief and flowers
DESCRIPTION:“How long will it last?” is a common question in a florist’s career and a mirror to our impermanence. Inspired by the reverence\, companionship\, and guidance of a death doula\, we want to invite the public to hold hands with existence and mortality. \nFascinated by the ephemeral\, the objective is to create an immersive portrayal of the transitions from life to death in a way that challenges our measure of worth by longevity and durability. Our installation will be composed of flowers and plant material and enhanced by play of light\, reflection\, height\, and poignant ephemera to envelope participants in the spectrum of transience and grief. \nThe creative team is: Hanna Zahory\, Grace Bates-Toulson\, Allison Omlor and Gabrielle Thompson

SUMMARY:Vintage Photo Effects in Encaustic with Bridget Benton\, APR 8TH (
DESCRIPTION:$185.00\nWednesday\, April 8th – 10 AM to 5 PM- $185 – All materials for class are included! \nIf you’ve been wanting to add moody effects to your photography\, or combine photos and encaustic\, this is a great one-day\, beginner-friendly intro! Bridget will supply images in class for you to use already printed with archival inks on encaustic-friendly paper\, so no need to bring anything! \nBridget will share her favorite method for mounting photographs on cradled wood panels\, as well as the step-by-step method she uses to layer colored pencil\, watercolor\, encaustic medium\, oil paint\, and pan pastels to bring the images to life. The effect is a lot like a wonderful\, vintage\, hand-tinted photograph! Add collage elements and textured encaustic paint into the encaustic\, and the results can be quirky\, energetic\, and much more modern! \nStudents will have an opportunity to work with two images\, one sized for an 8×8 panel and one sized for an 8×10 panel. Students will be able to choose from a variety of black and white or sepia-toned “found ancestor” portraits\, landscapes\, and more. \nWant to use your own images? Bridget will reach out a few weeks before class\, and for an extra fee\, students with digital photo experience can send two images to Bridget for formatting and printing. \nStudents will come away with two completed pieces\, as well as information on how to print and work with their own images to create “encaustic photo effects” in their own home studios. Participants will also receive basic instruction on safety and as well as techniques for working with encaustic medium and encaustic collage. \nThis class seats 8 students. For any questions regarding our cancellation or transfer policy\, please refer to the link in our navigation bar.

SUMMARY:Intuitive Collage & Mixed Media with local artist Alison Press
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Saturday afternoon of color\, collage & community! Following in the footsteps of renowned collagists such as Picasso\, Braque\, Matisse\, and Bearden\, participants will design and create a one-of-a-kind mixed media collage-painting using a rich variety of papers\, paints\, markers\, and mixed-media materials. Collage elements may be cut or torn from magazines\, newspapers\, photographs\, old paintings\, sheet music\, tissue paper\, wallpaper\, paint samples\, and more. The possibilities are expansive—limited only by imagination. \nEach collage will unfold intuitively\, guided by gentle prompts from Alison. Artists will be encouraged to notice what colors\, shapes\, forms\, and marks draw their attention\, and to follow those instincts as they build their composition. Layers of collage will be complemented with paint and other materials as each piece evolves toward completion. \nThe final work may emerge as a recognizable image—such as a figure or landscape—or as a fully abstract\, non-objective composition. Throughout the process\, core artistic principles including balance\, value\, and color harmony will be introduced and explored\, supporting each artist in bringing their unique vision to life. \nYou are welcome to bring your own photo or images for subject matter reference\, and any papers and other ephemera for added personalization of your art. At the end of the workshop each attendee will have a completed\, colorful and one-of-a-kind collage painting\, ready to take home!
