You will learn how to prepare the ink for painting\, how to correctly hold the Sumi brush\, and how to practice traditional movements and brushstrokes – along with what types of rice papers to use for this beautiful art form. As you practice you will see your strokes progress with the ability to accomplish paintings that can be framed and displayed! \nThe beauty of this simplistic style of painting isthe fundamental brush strokes of lines and dots. These techniques are centuries old and have been handed down from one master Sumi-e teacher to another. Sumi-e is a wonderful discipline that is very relaxing and provides an artistic escape from our everyday hectic world. \nThis class will teach beginning students\, while previous students are welcome to attend and continue to advance their brush strokes. \nThis class seats 8 students. SUMMARY:Ukrainian Pysanky Egg Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Pysanky are a lot like Asheville- unique\, fun and colorful! \nIn this workshop we will be making beautiful Ukrainian Easter eggs – pysanky. You will learn the method of batik – also called wax-resist – dying. You will also be familiarized with the wide range of Ukrainian folk art traditional patterns\, designs and symbols and their history. The designs are made with beeswax which is melted in the flame of a candle and applied to the egg using a tool called a kistka. The eggs are dipped into successively darker dyes. At the end of the process the beeswax is melted off to reveal the beautiful and colorful design. You may use the traditional patterns\, or also freestyle and make up your own design. Pysanky are fun\, relaxing\, and meditative to create. And\, the symbols are all good wishes\, so it is always the perfect time to create eggs with symbols wishing for good health\, long life\, strength and protection and other good things. \nCall\, text or email me to reserve a spot\, or schedule your own afternoon or evening date for you and your friends! Lessons available at my studio or your location for individuals and groups- many weekday evenings and Sunday afternoons work well. Classes are 3 hours and use of all supplies is included. Most people create 1 to 2 pysanky which you take home with you. $75 per person (cash/check) or $78 (credit card) includes use of all supplies. We will all work from the same image. \nGoals:\n-Have fun.\n-Learn basic analog (cut by hand) paper collage techniques and materials\n-Learn how to transfer a photo onto a surface.\n-Basic cutting and gluing\, building layers to create depth.\n-Complete or build the foundation for a 10 X 10 finished piece. \nI provide: Gel medium/glue\, wood panels\, scissors\, wood panels\, tracing paper\, pencils and some papers. \nStudents bring any personal items such as photo (copies) or small personal items to attach; extra papers\, magazines\, etc.; Gloves if wanted; Beverage and lunch.

SUMMARY:Ukrainian Pysanky Egg Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Pysanky are a lot like Asheville- unique\, fun and colorful! \nIn this workshop we will be making beautiful Ukrainian Easter eggs – pysanky. You will learn the method of batik – also called wax-resist – dying. You will also be familiarized with the wide range of Ukrainian folk art traditional patterns\, designs and symbols and their history. The designs are made with beeswax which is melted in the flame of a candle and applied to the egg using a tool called a kistka. The eggs are dipped into successively darker dyes. At the end of the process the beeswax is melted off to reveal the beautiful and colorful design. You may use the traditional patterns\, or also freestyle and make up your own design. Pysanky are fun\, relaxing\, and meditative to create. DESCRIPTION:Tea in the Tempest at Pink Dog Creative \nPink Dog Creative Gallery presents Tea in the Tempest\, a collaborative exhibition by mixed media artist Heather Divoky and textile artist Emelie Weber Wade. Originally conceived as Tea Time for Two\, a show celebrating creative friendship\, the exhibition evolved in the wake of Hurricane Helene\, reflecting themes of destruction\, resilience\, and renewal. \nDivoky’s signature paper head crowns\, intricate hand-drawn works\, and a kinetic mobile installation explore the emotional landscape of loss and recovery. Wade’s woven inlay wall art and non-traditional quilts transform dreamlike imagery into textile narratives of home and healing.
