Art making, for me, is an expression of spirit. My abstract oil paintings develop from the feeling and energy of a place or a moment, often in the natural world. Sometimes I begin with color or the texture of a wild landscape, but then follow the evolving painting in an organic, intuitive way. I use a mixture of materials including oil stick, charcoal, and graphite as I layer oil paint mixed with cold wax on wood, panel, or paper. My imagination leads and shape, texture, and line emerge, as I explore the endless possibilities.
