Each painting I make is a process of discovery. It starts with a rough idea that is then built gradually in layers of colors, textures and found materials to develop an image that is rich with intense vibrancy and depth. I incorporate a blend of modern art techniques with ancient organic mediums, specifically encaustic wax and various mixed media. I make my encaustic paints and wax medium by hand myself, which I consider an enjoyable and crucial element in the alchemy of my creative process. Combining new and old ways of working satisfies both sides of my artistic nature; my love of emerging creative technologies juxtaposed with the luminous and tactile qualities of traditional art techniques. I am constantly experimenting with new ways to visually represent my ideas that stem from the inspiration I see in the world every day.
