I transform recycled aluminum, bronze, and copper wire and nature's materials in ways that reflect the natural beauty of the trees, flowers, animals and insects native to the mountains of Western North Carolina. By twisting and bending wire, building armatures and soldering copper and bronze, I create the look of swirling bark, gnarly roots, fur, feathers and blossoms. I study the anatomy and dimensions of my subject to ensure I create an abstract yet recognizable resemblance to the real object.
