At The Center: Solo Show Featuring Virginia Shepley

In this exhibition, Winston-Salem based artist, Virginia Shepley, invites us to remember those moments when time stops and we feel acutely connected to something greater than ourselves.

Virginia Shepley is an abstract painter using line drawing and biomorphic forms to visually represent fundamental spiritual ideas. Inspired by eastern philosophies, she explores unity and duality on paper as a metaphor for the human struggle to find a place of balance.

Virginia paints with acrylic gouache on handmade papers.  Using a meditative process of drawing, her works emerge through the physical interaction with the paper surface. Her color palette is symbolic and each color carries meaning for the artist. Using visually divided spaces, her works highlight the separation between our physical world and the unseen yet create a unified whole

At the Center brings together a collection of nineteen works on paper made since 2022.
