Skip Rohde: Courtroom Artist

Skip Rohde is the courtroom artist for WLOS-TV in Asheville.  He is currently working on the trial of former sheriff Bobby Medford.  Skip's courtroom drawings, including all those shown during the news reports, will be on display during the upcoming Studio Stroll.

The First Birthday Celebration for Jonas Gerard Fine Art in the River Arts District will kick off with a gathering of Asheville's notables on May 19th at 4:30 pm. The Gallery continues its birthday celebration through the River Arts District Studio Stroll on June 13th, 14th and 15th. Anyone visiting the studio from May 19th through June 15th can enter to win a painting to be gifted to a lucky entrant on Sunday, June 15th at 4 p.m.

As a birthday gift to the community, Jonas will be painting live in his studio on Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15 at 2 p.m.

All events are free and open to the public with plenty of birthday cake, drinks and music.

Robert Winkler at the Flood Gallery

Flood Gallery Fine Art Center is proud to present Lines: Sculpture by Robert Winkler. This exhibition will be on view from May 17th through June 22nd, 2008. The opening reception, sponsored by Barefoot Wines, is slated for May 17th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Curve Studios is a trinity of art workspaces located in Asheville’s River Arts District. Take this opportunity to meet Curve Studios newest artists as well as revisiting artists you know during our Open House Sale Friday, May 2nd from 4-8pm and Saturday May 3rd from 12-6pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

Laleah Adams, intrigued by historical and architectural aspects of shelters, creates symbolic homes with an unusual twist.  There is no telling what you might find peeking through the window and wonder at the usefulness of her cockeyed little houses.

Eric C. Wolfgang Knoche at the Boardroom Gallery

Eric Wolfgang Carl Knoche’s exhibition of new work at the Boardroom Gallery of the Asheville Area Arts Council reconnoiters a landscape of abstractions from the human form to discarded machinery.  Many pieces are modular and must be disassembled to be fully experienced.

Vicki Brow’s palette explores intense color as an expression of emotion, using textures and lines.  Her abstract figurative work is an artistic response in color of the movement and beauty of the body and what lies behind it.
