ORGANIZATIONAL STATEMENT
Founded in 2013, the River Arts District Artists (RADA) serves, connects, and advocates for the artists of Asheville’s River Arts District. RADA is the collective voice and organizing body for a community of working artists whose creativity fuels the cultural and economic vitality of Asheville.
In the wake of unprecedented challenges, RADA continues to lead with resilience by strengthening partnerships, championing accessibility, and ensuring that the River Arts District remains a place where art, community, and innovation thrive together.
We envision a district where artists and makers advance the spirit of creativity, collaboration, and connection that defines Asheville’s identity and inspires the next generation of artists and creative thinkers.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to cultivate a thriving, inclusive, and resilient creative community within Asheville’s River Arts District.
- We create a supportive environment for independent artists of all backgrounds through collective action, advocacy, and shared resources.
- We promote our members locally, regionally, and nationally through events, exhibitions, outreach, and storytelling that highlight the River Arts District as a center for creativity and connection.
- We support the professional growth, visibility, and sustainability of working artists while advancing cultural planning and economic development that ensures the River Arts District remains a vibrant, accessible place to create, exhibit, and thrive.
OUR VALUES
- We believe artists are essential to a thriving society, serving as changemakers, storytellers, and innovators who shape culture and community.
- We commit to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all that we do, recognizing and addressing systemic inequities within the arts.
- We build bridges through collaboration, fostering positive partnerships, shared resources, and collective impact.
