TWO LOCAL ARTISTS REFLECT ON THEIR WORK SINCE THE FLOOD
POSTDILUVIAN EXHIBITION SHOWCASES THE WORK OF CHRYS CORN GOODMAN AND MARYANA RIVERA
Two Asheville artists, Chrys Corn Goodman and Maryana Rivera, have been honored with an invitation to exhibit images of the work that they have created since Hurricane Helene devastated the River Arts District two years ago. The exhibition, titled PostDiluvian, will be at Pink Dog Gallery at 348 Depot Street in Asheville, with an opening reception on Friday, September 25 from 5-8pm to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the hurricane and flood that took place in September 2024. Both artists were represented in the River Arts District when the flood happened, and both will be in attendance at the opening. PostDiluvian, will remain on exhibit from September 25 through October 25. Goodman is a figurative abstract painter working in oil and wax, and Rivera is a relief printmaker. The show will focus on themes of restoration, hope, brokenness and resilience and the way that art helps us process the beauty and struggles of life.
