Opening Exhibit: The River Breached
September 12, 2026 @ 10:00 am - 7:00 pm

Please join local RAD artist, Alison Press in Studio 22 at the newly reopened Asheville Cotton Mill Studios, as she presents a new painting series ” The River Breached”, to commemorate the second anniversary of Hurricane Helene. This event is in conjunction with the River Arts District (RAD) Resilience Day to celebrate how far we have come in the couple of years since the historic flooding. Alison has created seven new works for this series release where she captures an imagined, abstracted and colorful interpretation of cycles that the French Broad River took on September 27, 2024, when the Hurricane came to the WNC region and the RAD.
Alison was inspired to paint this series after she moved back to the RAD a few months ago. Her light filled working studio and gallery space overlooks the French Broad River.
This poignant series will be available for viewing, and along with the original paintings, a limited collection of archival prints will be available for sale.
