I have had a life long fascination with people & faces. This passion has kept me painting portraits for over 40 years. I feel blessed to enjoy what I do and be able to share the paintings with others. I’ve made a lot of new friends in the process.

Growing up in Hartsville, SC, I started my formal training at Coker College, receiving a BA in Graphic Design. I’ve continued my learning by attending conferences and workshops with other veteran portrait painters, and being part of several national portrait artist organizations.

My work is in private collections from Pennsylvania to Florida. One painting was chosen as an Editor’s Pick and published in Watercolor Magic magazine. Three paintings are part of the collection at the World Methodist Museum at Lake Junaluska, NC. I’ve exhibited in a one woman show at the Hamilton Gallery at Montreat College, Montreat, and the group Western NC Show at the Asheville Art Museum, and others.

Portraits should be about personality as well as likeness. My work is about capturing the light within and falling on each subject. By capturing that light, I reflect the personality of the sitter. Portraiture is an art form that brings glory to our Creator for each of the wonderful, unique individuals in this world!

Landscapes are all about the light. Whether it is late afternoon warm oranges and yellows or an overcast day with cool light, light sets the mood in any landscape. Connect to your center by encountering the breathtaking landscapes in Western North Carolina!

Experimental abstract landscapes are all about the light and texture. Some break out of the mold by dividing into multiple squares of color or breaking out of the typical plane of flat surface by stacking to create a multi-dimensional sculptural painting. Enjoy!
