Join us as we explore the world of landscape oil painting! We’ll start with the essential gear you’ll need, then move into hands-on usage and foundational concepts like value, composition, and brushwork.
Students should bring:
Oil Paint: Minimum (white, yellow, red, dark blue) Best to have: Yellow cool ( Lemon or cadmium light) Yellow warm (Cadmium Yellow) Red warm ( Cadmium light red) Red cool (Alizarin Crimson) Blue cool (Cobalt) Blue warm (Ultramarine) Phthalo Blue and/or Viridian Dark Brown- Burnt/Raw Umber, Van Dyke, Sepia
Palette – neutral gray palette – a piece of glass with grey paper works
Canvas – 8×10 or 9×12
1” Flat and a medium round brush at minimum. An additional ¼ to ½” flat and small detail round brush are helpful but not required.
Palette Knife for mixing Mineral spirits in sealed container – metal or glass
Paper towels- Viva Brand is the best!
