Watercolor Landscape Art Class

This workshop with Patricia Sweet will help you build skills for creating bold yet soft atmospheric landscape paintings in watercolor
We will practice and learn to:
-Mix and layer colors, gain an understanding of color temperature, and use water and paint to create surprise outcomes.
-Capture the effects of light and create atmospheric effects like mist.
-Learn foundational techniques like wet-in-wet layering, glazing and saving your whites.
-Gain an understanding of composition, color theory, and light.
Students should bring:
Watercolor Paints:
Yellow cool ( Lemon or cadmium light)
Yellow warm (Cadmium Yellow)
Red warm ( Cadmium light red)
Red cool (Alizarin Chrimson)
Blue cool (Cobalt)
Blue warm (Ultramarine)
Phthalo Blue and/or Viridian
Dark Brown- Burnt/Raw Umber, Van Dyke, Sepia
Palette – White ceramic, hard plastic or a piece of glass with white paper works
Paper – 140 lbs white cold press watercolor paper – loose or on a block .
Pencil and eraser that does not leave smudge, color or marks behind
Brushes: 1”Flat and medium round brush at minimum.
An additional ¼ to ½” flat and small detail round brush are helpful but not required.
Water container (1 or 2); Spray water (cheap hairspray bottles work great)
Paper towels- Viva Brand is the best!
Artist Tape or painters tape if you would like clean edges around your painting.
A board to mount loose paper to.
