Featured Artist Exhibition: Wild Flora of Western North Carolina-by Carla Camasso

Wild Flora of Western North Carolina is a collection of flameworked glass sculptures inspired by some of our region’s most beloved native plants. As you walk through the exhibition, each sculpture is meant to provoke peace and wonder, just as one would feel while on a walk in the woods. Like glass, these plants are fragile yet resilient. From lush vibrant greens in the spring to flowers blooming through the summer, to dried leaves in the winter, every season has its own unique beauty to offer.

Carla Camasso is a Glass Artist and teacher living in Asheville, NC since 2013. Originally from Massachusetts, Carla received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Glass from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and has been working with glass for over 15 years. Working primarily with borosilicate glass, Carla’s glasswork is greatly inspired by her love for nature, color, food, and travel. Her work is vibrant, playful, and whimsical. Throughout the years, Camasso has taught at various studios including Asheville Glass Center, Snowfarm: New England Craft Program, John C. Campbell Folk School, and North Carolina Glass Center.
