A few notes:
Mixed-media artists work with a variety of media in a single artwork. To get started with mixed- media art, begin by looking at things around you. You need a sturdy material that can act as a base. Begin working with media that you are already familiar with and then experiment with new, inventive techniques using new, inventive tools and materials. Adopt a spontaneous playful approach to creating your work and remember to have fun along the way!

Don’t judge yourself or your work harshly until you are finished, often it is messy and a bit ugly while in process… and in the end, it is just for learning and play anyway!

• Mixed-media Art – is an art form that doesn’t place restrictions on people who don’t know how to draw or don’t have good fine art skills. Through layering and combining different forms of media and various techniques, anyone who is keenly interested in creating something can participate. It differs from collage by combining traditional fine art materials such as paint, chalk, charcoal, colored pencils, etc. with the fodder of collage works. Mixed media art can be realistic or abstract, or fall anywhere in between. Play with it!

• Mixed-media Painting -mixing drawing or painting with various two-dimensional products (tissue paper, scrap paper, books, music notes, magazine cut-outs, maps, etc.) is a common technique used in mixed media art. An artist benefits from being aware of the effect produced by the combinations of paint and painted objects and in combination with other media.

• Fodder – the stuff you make for use in your mixed media creations. Often it is developed alongside your work as you experiment with different styles and combinations. Layer upon layer is built until beauty begins to emerge.
