Character Study: Mixed Media & the Art of Personality w/ Michelle Hamilton

Join us at ArtPlay for this fun Friday evening class, full of of creativity & character with local artist Michelle Hamilton.

People always comment on how much personality they see in Michelle’s art, so she has created this class to share some of her secrets with you!
Imagine a long-lashed flirty giraffe named Ms. Astor, the weary eyes of Darryl the Donkey that tell his story of hardship and hope… the out-of-proportion large bird feet that reveal the clumsiness of Carmichael the Crow. The list goes on and on!

In this class you will use acrylic paints and cut/ torn bits of paper together to create colorful mixed media collage art pieces on wood panel substrates. You’ll first play with rough sketches of characters and their features and later transfer one of your sketches onto a wooden panel. From there Michelle will guide you in learning how to build up layers of paper and paint to create a character unique to your imagination!
