Marty Black
The Potter's Mark

Picture
A former Electronic engineer, Marty finally realized his wife, Eileen, was having much more fun. He gave up engineering and under the excellent tutelage from Eileen, along with some formal courses, Marty became a potter. Bernadette St. Pierre-George
Synergy Arts

Picture
As an artist, I am drawn to the organic forms of nature. I was originally inspired to paint by my photography, the subject matter often being the beauty of flowers and the intense color and myriad shapes of fruits and vegetables.

Many of my paintings are larger than life. I favor a vibrant palette — the emotional aspect of color evokes in me a range of feelings from calm to excitement and energy. Interesting and dramatic shapes of light and shadow enhance my compositions.

I recently moved to Asheville, NC from New York where my husband and I had a graphic design firm.

Bill George

Picture
I am an award-winning visual artist and was part of the New York art scene for many years, first studying at the Art Students League in Manhattan. After working as a Graphic Designer and illustrator, I started my own graphic design firm in NYC.

As a designer and visual artist I believe art should communicate, be it an idea or a feeling—creating awareness of the beauty that surrounds us—from the everyday objects in a still life to the ever changing natural world and the expressiveness of the human form. Inspired by John Singer Sargent, I look beyond the surface to convey the true character of the subject’s individuality.

John Mac Kah

Picture
Graduate of Ringling College of Art & Design, 1981. Fine Art instruction in my working studio, on location and schools nationwide. Inspired by past masters in landscape from America and Europe, I build my work on a deep respect and understanding of their processes and materials. These very earthy tools: wood, hair, canvas, linen, natural oils, varnish, pigments-all connect me to the work and the work to Nature and the Wild. Taking time out to closely observe and see our world as unique, complex and vibrant is important to me as the act of painting on location. A working studio, my space functions as workshop, laboratory, classroom and creative retreat from travels. Prints, note-cards & originals available.

Nancy Silver
Nancy Silver Art

Picture
As a former Level One Trauma Nurse Charge Nurse and First Responder on the Red Cross Medical Disaster Team, I began painting 7 years ago as self-therapy, despite zero art background. I studied painting & drawing at Northern Kentucky University while living in Cincinnati, with extra thanks to Hollis Hammonds for drawing and Marc Leone for painting. I also studied sculpture with Margot Gotoff. After finding the unguarded exit out of town, I escaped to Asheville in fall 2010 and finally was able to paint full time. I now enjoy a beautiful space in Cotton Mill Studios, surrounded by a supportive group of experienced artists.
